The Creating a Healing Society Program

Trauma shapes much of the behavior of the world, and its unconscious reenactment results in tremendous difficulties for businesses, schools, government, healthcare institutions, and others.  Awareness of the roles trauma plays, and knowledge of the steps necessary to defuse and redirect the negatives into useful and positive actions will assist all of these vital groups to function more effectively.

The Catalyst Foundation’s pioneering Creating a Healing Society Program invites all of us to explore what drives human behavior and the significance of human emotional pain and trauma as a major underlying cause of the most serious problems facing our society today.  It is well known that without healthy support, traumatized people (unconsciously influenced by their inner pain) will engage in self-destructive and/or antisocial behaviors.  While we are accustomed to thinking about the impact of trauma on the individual, most of us are unaware of the dramatic effect that unresolved trauma and difficult life experiences have on society and the world.

The cumulative result of these pain-driven behaviors can be seen in our violent society, in the ongoing cycle of child abuse and neglect, in unemployment, homelessness and poverty, in drug addiction and alcoholism, in the quality, effectiveness, and well-being of our businesses and organizations, on our governments and institutions and, on an international level, in terrorism and war.

The Creating a Healing Society Program’s powerful presentations and unique training programs, consisting of half-day, full-day, and a more comprehensive 12 session curriculum, bring the issue of trauma, and its devastating impact, fully to light.  Additionally, the prime focus of the Program is to provide participants with the necessary tools to transform themselves, their families, and their workplaces into “Healing Societies.”

Program Review

These training programs have been presented to and utilized by a variety of groups and individuals nationwide.  From prestigious national conferences, to maximum-security prisoners, large healthcare organizations, Native American communities, businesses, educational institutions, churches, and compassionate philanthropic groups.  The elements of the program relate powerfully to each one of us.

We are proud to provide an ongoing in-depth, twelve-session program for the prisoners at the maximum-security California State Prison-Los Angeles County (CSP-LAC).  Since 2004, this cutting-edge program has provided a tool for insight and personal transformation for the men in the Honor Program at CSP-LAC.  With the invaluable aid of life prisoner Kenneth E. Hartman, this program was designed and made especially effective for prisoners.

The Creating a Healing Society Program offers presentations and workshops nationwide, custom tailored to the needs of each group.
